Abstract

Here we demonstrate that SPRET/Ei a mouse inbred strain derived from Mus spretus, exhibits an extreme and dominant resistance against LPS-induced lethal inflammation. Lipolysaccharides are the principal components of the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. Identifying the molecular basis of the LPS hypo-responsiveness might lead to new therapeutic possibilities for the treatment of LPS-mediated pathologies.
