Project: Oral vaccination of pigs ag ainst F18+ Escherischia coli and characterization of a candidate receptor for F18.
- project duration
- 01-OCT-01 – 30-SEP-03
- F18+Escherichia coli cause post-weaning diarrhoea and/or oedema disease. These bacteria carry F18 fimbriae that are responsible for the adhesion to intestinal receptors. Pigs will be immunized orally with purified F18 fimbriae or the adhesive subunit FedF, using mutant-LT as an adjuvant. FedF will be produced in a recombinant vector. Another goal is to characterize the F18-receptor.
