Project: Investigation of the bioactivity spectrum of the phytoestrogen from shops, 8-prenylnaringenin and semi-synthetic analogues.
- project duration
- 01-OCT-01 – 30-SEP-03
- 8-Prenylnaringenin from hops (Humulus lupulus L.) is one of most potent phytoestrogens known to date. It is an agonist of the estrogen receptor-alpha and a partial agonist of the estrogen receptor-Beta. A series of 8-substituted naringenins (flavanones) and dihydronaringenins (flavan-4-oles) will be prepared semi-synthetically and their bioactivity will be investigated using a variety of specific bioassays.
