Project: Influence of Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) and structure treatment interruptions (STI) on the virus-specific cellular immune response against HIV-1.
- project duration
- 01-OCT-01 – 30-SEP-03
- We will isolate HIV-specific cytotoxic cells and perform functional tests on them, like the secretion of IFN-gamma. We will study the loss of clones among these HIV-specific CD8 cells by means of the T-cell receptor repertoire. We will measure the function of the thymus by TREC analysis. These techniques will be applied on blood samples of acutely infected HIV patients, after starting of combination antiretroviral therapy and when therapy is stopped or restarted.
