Project: The position of foreign teachers at Italian universities during the Renaissance. A comparative study of Bologna, Padua and Siena.

In this research project the careers and the situation of foreign teachers at three 15th and 16th century Italian universities are studied. The attitude of student organisations, doctoral colleges and political authorities towards foreigners and the policy of nomination at the three universities are compared, as well as the differences between the Faculties of Medicine and Law.
