Project: Identification and characterization of a unique glutathione-dependent peroxidase system in Haemophilus influenzae, a human opportunistic pathogen.

project duration
01-OCT-00 – 30-SEP-02
abstract
Members of the genus Haemophilus remain hazardous for the welfare of humans and animals. A remarkable feature is their tolerance of reactive oxygen species (ROS), since not one physical peroxidase is reported thus far. Therefore, establishing the link between the haemophilus influenzae glutathione metabolisme and its protection against ROS by identifying and characterizing a glutathione-dependent peroxidase is of significant interest.
