Project: A study of the cellular calcium homeostasis after traumatic injury of the central nervous system.

01-OCT-95 – 30-SEP-99

The intracellular free calcium concentration in neurons and glial cells, at and around the site of a localized mechanical destruction of brain tissue, under physiological conditions as well as inschaemia, is being studied. Special attention is paid to the intercellular propagation of changes in intracellular free calcium. The experiments are performed on cell cultures and slices of neontal brain rats.
