Project: Achilles' mirror - female allegory in the work of Karel van de Woestijne, in particular in the epic 'Penthesileia'.

- The first part of this study defines the allegory as a genre. Subsequently this definition is confronted with the allegorical concept of Walter Benjamin. The third chapter treats with the allegory in symbolism and in Karel van de Woestijne's work. Finally the period of the fin de siècle and Van de Woestijne's works are investigated on the image of the woman, as far as it appear within an allegorical context.
