Project: Intracellular calcium concentration during nitrergic relaxation in the gastrointestinal tract.
- project duration
- 01-DEC-01 – 30-NOV-02
- In smooth muscle preparations of the stomach, and later on of the intestine, tension changes and changes of the intracellular calcium concentration are simultaneously measured during relaxations induced by electrical stimulation, whereby endogenous nitric oxide is released, and by exogenous administration of nitric oxide. This allows to evaluate the involvement of calcium in the mechanism of nitrergic relaxation.
