Project: Transvaginal oocyte pick-up in the cow : technical and biological modifications. A study on technical and biological factors influencing the recovery and quality of bovine oocytes.
- project duration
- 01-MAY-96 – 31-DEC-99
- Oocytes are aspirated transvaginally out of the ovaries from living donor cows, under ultrasound control. The study investigates the most important factors which influence the quality and quantity of the retrieved oocytes : optimization of the aspiration vacuum, influence of needle diameter, optimal CO2 concentration in the incubator, improvement of culture media. The actual amount of in vitro cultures blastocysts gives an indication of initial oocyte quality.
