Abstract

Study of a Hellenistic/Parthian harbour-city (2nd cent. B.C. - 2nd cent. A.D.) in the Emirates. The site of Ed-Dur (4 km²) (sounding in 1986 1st camp. 1987 2nd camp. 1988 3rd camp. 1989) is the only important city for this period between Qatar andthe Strait of Hormuz. Characterization of the material culture placing it in a broader international, economical-historical context (trade-routes between East and West and Arabia).
