Project: A micromechanical basis for the effect of fly ash and blastfurnace slag on durability of environment-friendly concrete
2005-01-01 – 2009-12-31
- Abstract
Use of industrial by-products as a partial replacement of Portland cement in concrete helps to reduce CO2-emissions. Aims are (1) to optimise non-destructive techniques (mainly based on ultrasound) and micromechnical models to monitor setting and hardening of concrete with blastfurnace slag or fly ash (2) to explain and model strength and durability properties of this type of concrete through investigation of chemical and mineralogical composition, hydration process and microstructure.
