Project: Biochemical research related to N-glycosylation of proteins secreted by fungi: strain specificity and influence of growth conditions
- project duration
- 01-JAN-03 – 10-JAN-05
- The N-glycosylation of T. reesei cellulases can be manipulated by defining different growth conditions or by using different strains. A secreted deglycosylating endoH and a Golgi residing phosphomannosyltransferase impede the production of Man5GIcNAc2, essential for build-up of human type glycoproteins (heterologous expression). Biomass degradation is also favoured by intact glycoforms. Structural-analytical as well as fundamental biochemical research are planned.
