Project: Functional study of the jasmonic acid induced tobacco lectin and its receptors

- The recent discovery of a chitin-binding jasmonic acid inducible lectin in tobacco revealed that plants synthesize carbohydrate-binding proteins as a respons to chemical stresses. This project aims to study the physiological role of the tobacco lectin using transgenic plants which express the lectin. Furthermore we will also study the lectin receptors in the cell as well as the interaction between the lectin and its receptors.
