Project: Expression of F18 receptors in the small intestine of pigs: influence of receptor expression on binding and transcellular uptake of F18 fimbriae and on the immune response against the fimbriae
- project duration
- 01-JAN-04 – 31-OCT-08
- In this project, the localisation and degree of expression of the F18 receptor for F18+ verotoxigenic E. coli will be determined in the intestine of pigs at different ages and especially around weaning. It will be analysed if the degree of expression influences binding to (Biacore biosensor) and transport across the mucosa (ligated loops and Ussing chambers). The conditions allowing the highest fimbrial uptake, will be used to immunise pigs.
