Project: Biomarkers of the energy metabolism and detoxification mechanisms of the waterflea, Daphnia magna, for the detection of environmental pollutants and biotoxins.

project duration
01-JAN-96 – 31-DEC-99
The proposed research aims at evaluating general and compound specific toxicity indicators in the model organism Daphnia mamgna The following research steps will be performed : 1. development of acute and chronic toxicity tests with ex-ephippio neonates 2. research on 2 general indicators of the energy metabolism 3. research compound specific biomarkers of the Fase I and II detoxification system 4. evaluation of the developed biomarker techniques for the toxicity detection of environmental samples and phytotoxins.
