- Extensive microbial data bases, generated with modern fingerprinting techniques, have gained importance in classification and identification. However, with current,outdated analytic techniques, contadictory dendrograms are often obtained.The aim of this project is to extend polyphasic taxonomy to a synthetizing, relational, dynamic, objective classification and identification system, by means of modern methods in artificial intelligence, and starting from available microbial databases.
