Project: Iterative receivers for digital communication

abstract
In most present communication systems, information (data, video, audio, …) is transmitted in a digital way. To reliably reconstruct the information at the receiver side, error correcting codes can be used. Further, it is necessary to estimate the channel parameters (propagation delay, impulse response, phase shift, …) to allow a reliable reconstruction of the information. However, the optimal methods for parameter estimation and decoding are too complex to realise. Therefore, suboptimal methods with good performance and low complexity are necessary. In this project, we will investigate error correcting codes with good performance and iterative algorithms for decoding and parameter estimation.
