- Behzad V. Farahani is a Senior Researcher at Soete Labratory in Ghent University, Belgium. He was working in the field of numerical modelling and experimental mechanics at Advance Monitoring and Structural Integrity Unit (UMAI) by INEGI in Porto, Portugal. He completed his doctoral degree in mechanical engineering focusing on the structural health monitoring (SHM) in railway tunnels in 2019 by the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto. He received his Master's degree in Computational Mechanics in damage and fracture mechanics in 2015 by the same university. He achieved more than 35 peer-reviewed papers and 3 book chapters published in the international publishers and participated in more than 45 national and international conferences. He is a local organizer and international scientific committee of the International Conference on Structural Integrity (ICSI) held bi-annually in Funchal, Portugal. He is on the editorial board of Polymers journal by MDPI and the reviewer board of several international journals. He has peer-reviewed more than 200 scientific articles for international journals. He is a member of the European Structural Integrity Society (ESIS) and Portuguese Association in Fracture and Structural Integrity- SPFIE since 2019. He has contributed as a main researcher in three international (EU and ESA) and two national projects (MIAMI and Caetano Bus). Currently, his main research field is focusing on the computational fracture mechanics in transportation vehicles, SHM, Non-destructive Evaluation, plasticity, damage, fatigue mechanics and numerical modelling of various material models resorting to the automotive and aeronautics applications. He aims at implementing and developing advanced experimental and computational methodologies.
