Bio (via ORCID)
Dr. Ans Van Ginckel is a research physical therapist/rehabilitation specialist currently affiliated with Ghent University, Belgium. From Ghent University (Belgium), Ans obtained a Bachelor Degree (2004, Summa Cum Laude) and a Master Degree (2007, Magna Cum Laude) in Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences before earning a PhD in June 2013. Ans’ research interests focus on the efficacy and safety of conservative interventions in the prevention and treatment of both idiopathic and posttraumatic osteoarthritis (OA). Following her PhD research (PhD Fellowship Research Foundation Flanders), she undertook 3-year postdoctoral training (National Health & Medical Research Council program grant) at the University of Melbourne (2014-2016). During this time, she relocated to Australia and played a vital role in the design and conduct of a multi-centre RCT coordinating a team of 10 investigators. Whilst awarded a highly competitive Early Career Researcher Grant from the University of Melbourne, this role enabled her to expand her international network, acquire or refine her skills in RCT design, multi-centre project management and grant writing and allowed her to broaden her skills and knowledge set with research methods that are of interest in the clinical fields of OA. Already in her early junior research career, Ans’ work has been published in leading journals in the fields of orthopaedics, rheumatology, sports sciences and rehabilitation. In February 2017, she returned to Belgium to take up a (Pegasus)2 Marie-Curie EU Fellowship resuming her research at Ghent University and complete clinical research training at Harvard Medical School.
