- Merkebu Girmay received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering and his M.Sc. degree in Communication Engineering from Mekelle University, Tigray, in 2010 and 2014, respectively. After his studies, he worked as an academic staff at Mekelle University. In December 2018, he joined IDLab, Department of Information Technology, University of Ghent–imec, Belgium, where he received his Ph.D. degree. Currently, Merkebu is working as a researcher at IDLab. He has experience working on H2020 European projects. His main research interests include intelligent signal processing and the optimization of radio network resources in different wireless networks, including Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, 5G NR, 6G, and V2X. Merkebu's skill set includes machine learning-based signal processing and radio resource management. Additionally, Merkebu has hands-on experience with software-defined radio-based implementation and testing for various wireless network solutions. I am also proficient in working with different wireless network simulators based on different programming languages, such as C, C++, Matlab, and Python.
