- Merkebu Girmay received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering and M.Sc. degree in Communication Engineering from Mekelle University, Tigray, in 2010 and 2014 respectively. After his studies, he worked as an academic staff in Mekelle University where he was involved in national research projects and community service. In December 2018, he joined IDLab, Department of Information Technology, University of Ghent–imec, Belgium where he is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. He has experience in working on H2020 European Projects. His main research interests include the coexistence of wireless technologies in unlicensed spectrum, software-defined radios, private networks, vehicular communications, 5G, LTE, IEEE802.11, and multicast and broadcast communication technologies.
