- Mariia Lepneva obtained her candidate of sciences degree (PhD equivalent) from the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2022. Her research interests include the history of the Vinaya tradition (lüzong 律宗) of Chinese Buddhism in the Ming and Qing. She is a member of the European Association for Chinese Studies and the Association for Asian Studies.
