Peter Ward is a Mechatronics Engineer with a Masters in Robotics and is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Electronics and ICT Engineering Technology at Ghent University under the supervision of Prof. Sofie Van Hoecke of the PreDiCT team within IDLab, Ghent University-imec. Peter's technical skills include high-level analytical and creative thinking, in-depth expertise in developing complex robotic systems, software, and control systems, and proficiency in machine learning and traditional computer vision techniques. Peter is interested in applying the latest advancements in technology and translating innovative research into impactful solutions. Previously he has developed autonomous robots for inspecting complex, unstructured environments, with his work contributing to numerous awards, including the Australian Engineering Innovation Excellence Award and Winner of the Best New Industry Application at The Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards. His current research focus is on improving health equity underserved communities. This is enabled by developing AI-powered diagnostics to tackle neglected tropical diseases and making them more accessible in resource-limited settings. Peter is the co-founder of Enaiblers, the start-up bringing the innovative solution to market.
