Lieselot Declercq is a PhD student and educator specializing in online learning, with a particular interest in human–AI collaboration in education. She is currently pursuing a voluntary PhD in Educational Sciences at Ghent University, where her research focuses on the pedagogical integration of virtual humans in online professional development for teachers. Her supervisors are Prof. Dr. Bram De Wever and Prof. Dr. Melissa Tuytens. With over 18 years of experience in online and blended education across primary, secondary, and higher education, Lieselot has contributed to academic innovation, teacher training, and educational quality assurance. She previously worked as a blended learning officer and research assistant at Ghent University, and was involved in OBPWO research commissioned by UGent, UAntwerpen, and the Flemish government. She holds two MSc degrees in Educational Sciences (Ghent University and the Open University of the Netherlands), a teacher’s degree with a specialization in special needs education, and a BaNaBa in care from Artevelde University College. She also completed advanced training in digital transformation (Vlerick), international relations and diplomacy (UA), e-learning design (ITCILO) and AI strategy (MIT, Stanford). She is co-founder of d-teach Online School ivzw, a not-for-profit supporting inclusive digital education globally. She is co-founder of d-teach online training and ICONS, the International Community of Online Schools. She is member of the Board of Directors at Agoria, Patron of Europe101, Fellow of Belgium's 40u40, Collective Changemaker Wintercircus, Female Edtech Fellow Europe, Co-founder AI awards for education, Fellow of the EDSAFE AI Alliance, Collaborator at the AI in Education at Oxford University (AIEOU) Hub.
