A.The Dorsal Nasal meatus communicates with the ethmoidal cells. B.The Middle Nasal meatus is split by the middle conchal sinus into: • Dorsal ramus: narrow, communicates with common nasal meatus. • Ventral ramus: wider, communicates with the dorsal concha C. The Ventral Nasal Meatus: more spacious than the middle and dorsal A. Dorsal conchal sinus: • No rostral communication. • Caudally with the frontal sinus (conchofrontal aperture). B. Middle conchal sinus: • Largest component of the ethmoidal sinus complex. • Simple one-compartment sinus. • Communicates with the ethmoidal labyrinth caudally. C. Ventral conchal sinus is absent. • Left and right divided by the interfrontal septum A. Medial compartment: • Smaller, non-concamerated. • Extends to nasofrontal suture: conchofrontal aperture. B. Lateral compartment: • Large, diversely concamerated. • Communicates with the ethmoidal cells. • The frontal sinus extends up to the level of M1. • 5/7 animals presented a lacrimal sinus. • Pneumatizes lacrimal & frontal bone = “lacrimofrontal” sinus. • Opens into middle nasal meatus: nasolacrimal aperture. • Extends up Triadan 08/09 • Discontinuity of the bone lining exposes the lacrimal and frontal sinuses • Pneumatizes: maxillary & zygomatic bone. • Communicates with the ethmoidal cells. • Extends to 08. A. Lateral cells: • Most dorsal cells communicates with the frontolacrimal sinus • Middle cells communicate with the maxillary sinus. B.
