&#x3C;jats:p&#x3E;This chapter examines existential predication in a sample of one hundred Bantu languages found across the Bantu-speaking region. Following Creissels (2019a), existential constructions are defined in relation to plain locational clauses. In comparison to the latter, they involve an alternative way of encoding the prototypical figure-ground relationship: the ground, rather than the figure, is the perspectival centre. The chapter shows that a broad distinction can be made between those Bantu languages which have dedicated mechanisms for convening existential interpretations and those which have non-dedicated strategies, i.e. they use plain locational constructions except for sometimes being associated with a change in word order. Three out of the seven types of dedicated cross-linguistic existential constructions identified by Creissels (2019a) are attested in the sample: locative existentials, locative-possessive existentials, and comitative existentials. Locative morphology is also shown to be a prevalent characteristic of all dedicated types of existentials found in the Bantu languages.&#x3C;/jats:p&#x3E;</dc:description>

<title>Case Report: Physiological Stress Responses to Repeated, Standardized Short-Distance Transport in a Transport-Experienced Horse</title>

<dc:description>Transport is a fundamental component of equestrian training and competition. However, even horses with extensive transport experience may exhibit physiological stress responses during routine travel. This case report describes physiological stress responses in a transport-experienced 10-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding subjected to repeated, standardized short-distance transport. The horse was transported on 17 occasions along a fixed route to a riding school for dressage training using the same vehicle, handler, and protocol to minimize environmental variability. Physiological stress markers were assessed using continuous heart rate monitoring and salivary cortisol sampling at standardized time points before, during, and after each transport and training session. Salivary cortisol concentrations increased during transport and remained slightly elevated relative to preloading
reference values throughout the transport&#x2013;training&#x2013;return sequence. Heart rate was elevated relative to typical resting values prior tooading, peaked during training, and remained moderately elevated during subsequent transport phases. Longitudinal visualization across repeated transport events revealed a gradual decline in cortisol concentrations after approximately ten transport events, suggestive of partial physiological habituation.
However, the occurrence of a physiological outlier during the fifth transport event underscores that even in experienced horses, acute stress responses can occur independently of the general habituation trend. These findings indicate that repeated short-distance transport can elicit measurable physiological stress responses in transport-experienced horses and that habituation may be incomplete despite standardized conditions and familiarity with the procedure. Taken together, these results challenge the assumption that routine transport is minimally stressful, highlighting the importance of individualized transport management, adequate recovery periods, and ongoing welfare monitoring.</dc:description>

<dc:description>&#x3C;jats:title&#x3E;Abstract&#x3C;/jats:title&#x3E;&#x3C;jats:p&#x3E;This chapter explains how kaf&#x101;la-cases are handled&#xA0;in Belgium, including the respective migration case law and migration legal framework. This article emphasises that a kaf&#x101;la should be characterised as a child protection measure under the 1996 Child Protection Convention but that the Convention does not solve all issues relating to kaf&#x101;la. The Belgian general recognition rules offer a solution for kaf&#x101;las outside the scope of the 1996 Child Protection Convention. It is suggested that the private international law framework should be considered when determining whether a &#x3C;jats:italic&#x3E;makf&#x16B;l&#x3C;/jats:italic&#x3E; (ward) can be regarded as an unaccompanied minor.&#x3C;/jats:p&#x3E;</dc:description>

<dc:description>Over the past seven decades, trade barriers have been dramatically reduced. To that end, most countries have simultaneously pursued both multilateral and preferential trade liberalisation. This is surprising as the latter is less effective and provides fewer benefits to the member countries. In this chapter, we tackle this puzzle and investigate what makes these trade agreements a popular option for countries worldwide from an economic, political, and social perspective. We review the normative case for preferential trade liberalisation before evaluating the economic and non-economic arguments favouring trade agreements. We contextualise our arguments by creating and analysing a data set of trade agreements. We show how the broadly differing nature of those trade agreements influences trade gains and how countries and regions profit from this situation.</dc:description>

<dc:description>Joiners, defined as early-stage non-founder entrepreneurial employees, are crucial in the development and growth of new firms, however finding and keeping them proves to be a particularly challenging hurdle. Given the distinct features of joiners and the new venture context, theories and practices typically established in larger firms are not readily transferable. Therefore, understanding the specific nature of joiners, their motives, and how they affect firm development, becomes irrefutable to fully comprehend HRM and its effect in new firms. By means of a systematic review, we provide an overview of current research on joiners as well as an agenda for future research, hereby coalescing and advancing the HRM and entrepreneurship literatures.</dc:description>
